    Here is a very nice vintage Starrett No. 122 Vernier Caliper in the 12" size.  This model is no longer made by Starrett today.  The newer 123 series made today runs over 00!  The caliper is clean, no owner engravings on it and is firm, no wear in it.  When the model 1222 was made it used a hardened bar and jaws.  Jaws were ground and lapped parallel for lasting precision.  (page 90 of the older Starrett # 27 catalog).  The caliper works good and is extremely clean.  A little harder to slide than the newer models.  The locks and fine adjustment work as they should.  Box is in great condition and the latches work.  Its a beauty for its age.  Collector quality.
