Actor Kriti Sanon received the Best Actor honour at the Harper’s Bazaar’s Women of the Year Awards 2024, which took place on Saturday, October 19 in Mumbai. The actor, who looked sharp in a grey suit, dedicated her award to “all the women out there”. The 34-year-old said she was feeling overwhelmed as she recalled her journey in the film industry.
Kriti said the award meant a lot to her, especially because she was receiving it at a time when she had successfully ventured as a producer and an entrepreneur. She held the trophy, looked at her emotionally, and shared, “It’s so nice to be here today, celebrating women, in the presence of so many amazing women. The year 2024 has really gone very well for me with Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (her film), The Crew, where all three women crashed the box office. And, Hyphen, of course, my brand completing a year, which is too special for me.”
“I am now ending this year with Do Patti, which is also my first production, releasing on October 25 on Netflix. It is just a little overwhelming because I feel like getting here has been a journey and a very fulfilling one,” she added.
The National Award-winning actor talked about being a woman in the film industry and exploring every possibility to leave a successful legacy. Kriti said women today are “only limited by their own minds”.
She continued, “Today, I feel really privileged to be in a time when you can do it all as a woman. Women are getting roles which are written very well, fortunately. Even in theatres, on OTT platforms, everywhere. We can branch out and do whatever we feel like. We are limited only by our minds. So, let’s not do that. Let’s hyphen whatever you do in your life. Thank you so much. This is for all the women out there.”
The actor will next be seen in Do Patti, alongside Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh. The trailer of the film was released recently and received a good response from the audience. The film is a romantic thriller and Kriti plays a double role as twins for the first time on screen.
The Harper’s Bazaar’s Women of the Year Awards were based on a unique feature this year. The event aimed at creating a ‘chain of empowerment’ for women by letting every winner present the trophy to the winner of the next category.
